It all started with a climb up Mount Rainier in Washington State in August 2003. We had some beautiful views but nothing delicious to eat. The trail mix and stale nuts we brought on our trip helped to replenish lost energy, but did nothing to satisfy our desire for something great tasting, nutritious and as adventurous as our travels. That experience inspired us to create Sahale Snacks.
With backgrounds in media and technology, we had no formal experience in the food industry, but we shared a love for good food. We went back to our kitchens the very next day and created unique combinations of premium nuts, dried fruits, and exotic spices, each reflecting a beautiful location, culture or culinary tradition somewhere in the world.
We use whole ingredients in their natural form — such as cashews, almonds, pecans, and pistachios — and combine them with naturally dried and preservative-free (unsulphured) fruits, then add fabulous ingredients like organic honey, lemongrass, balsamic vinegar, or pure ground Madagascar vanilla beans. They are delicious snacks that go beyond ordinary.

We carefully select our nuts from the best growers then dry roast them in ovens to bring out the natural flavors.
While some snack companies use sulfites to boost color or extend shelf life, we always use unsulfured fruit, which has been naturally preserved with an infusion of sugar or a combination of sugar and fruit juice concentrate.
It’s the choice of ingredients and balance of flavors that makes Sahale Snacks unique. We brew a tea with real lemongrass to accent our Sing Buri Cashews. And our Cashews with Pomegranate + Vanilla includes both vanilla extract and ground whole Madagascar vanilla beans.
It’s no easy feat combining nuts and fruits to achieve a balance of crunchiness and chewiness. We’ve come up with some pretty innovative solutions. In our Cashews with Pomegranate + Vanilla, we use pieces of apple infused with pomegranate, which are applied with our glaze. This encrusts the nuts with the fruits so that there’s a crunchy-chewy taste of nuts and fruit in every bite.
Our glazes are made using our secret process. Sorry, we can’t tell you how we do it! But we can tell you that in our Glazed Nuts, we use organic tapioca syrup and organic cane sugar as our base and then add fruit juices and spices. In our Cashews with Pomegranate + Vanilla, we use pomegranate juice concentrate. Yum.
